After we have seen DR2's broadcasts about an alternative building from "Friland", the idea about building a strawhouse of our own came up. We started excavation for the foundation in February 2002 and about 13 months later the house was done. The house has eight beds in two rooms, each with a loft and bathroom. Furthermore there is a kitchen, a dining room and a living room. |

The year round there is a comfortable climate in the house, because the thick clay walls isolate well.
There is a different silence in the strawhouse in comparison to an ordinary house and since the rooms are built up all the way to the gable, it offers a very special feeling. |
